How to Reverse a Hunter Fan

August 17, 2022 by admin Leave a Comment

According to Energy Star, a ceiling fan is a part and parcel of every home that can be used to save the cost of energy throughout the year. A clockwise rotation of the fan pulls the air upward and pushes the warm air downward, as a result, it causes lower energy costs. In addition, it also reduces the costs of heating. A counterclockwise rotation circulates the cooler air below and pushes the air downward and also reduces the cooling cost of your home. The reverse function on a hunter fan will help you to change the direction of the rotation on your unit.

How to Reverse a Hunter Fan

#1 Step

To change the direction of the air, you need to press the “Reverse” button on the remote control of the ceiling fan. Press the “Reverse” button again will reinstate it to the previous direction of airflow. You can move on to the next step if your fan does not have a remote control.

#2 Step

The first thing you need to do is to turn off the fan. Find the reversing switch. It is available on the base of the fan near the switches of the fan speed and light.

#3 Step

You need to slide the switch to the opposite direction and that is it. Now, turn on the fan to check if the reverse is successful. Change the rotation of the fan to counterclockwise in the summer and clockwise in the winter.

We hope that you have learned successfully how to reverse a hunter fan and the differences between clockwise and counterclockwise rotations and when to change them.

How to Troubleshoot Hunter Ceiling Fan Remote Controls

August 11, 2022 by admin Leave a Comment

When it comes to troubleshooting Hunter ceiling fan remote controls, the troubleshooting process is the same as the troubleshooting of other brands’ fans:

  • Firstly, you need to ensure that the power supply is turned on to the fan. This may seem like a basic thing, and yes, we begin with the rudimentary before we go forward on the non-basic.
  • Next, use the remote control to switch on the fan. If the fan is not responding to the remote, the next step is to pull the pull chains and set it at the highest speed.
  • Similarly, try to turn on the light with the help of the remote. If no luck, pull the pull chains to switch on the lights.
  • Now, we know both of them do not work but did you check the batteries?
  • After that, the next step is to check the dipswitches. To check it, you need to open the battery compartment available on the back of the remote. The dip switches are available inside here. Now, you have to verify these against the fan. To get started, you’ll have to remove the canopy of the ceiling fan. After removing the canopy, check the dip switch settings inside of the fan and compare them with the remote. They will be found on the receiver of the ceiling fan, inside of the fan’s canopy. The dip switch settings should be matched, which means the settings inside of the fan and on the remote should be the same, otherwise, your fan will not be able to communicate with the remote in a proper way.

There is another issue that is relevant to dip switches that is, the fan turns on and off by itself. It may happen due to a neighbor or a roommate using a remote with the same dip switch settings as you and it is caused by accident. To know about it, the only way is to change the dip switches. In any case, you need to make sure that the remote dip switches should be always same as the dip switches inside of the unit.

This picture displays where the dipswitches are available on a fan remote, and what they look like.

After checking the dipswitches – did you change the battery? We know, we said this earlier – but this is something you need to check. One method to find out if the batteries are getting low, in this case, the remote only works if you turn off the fan. You need to remember that the signal will not travel through walls, so you should be in a similar room.

If you’re still facing problems, the next thing is to check the antenna to if it is blocked inside the canopy. While checking the inside of the canopy, you should observe if there are any frayed or corroded wires. Also, check the receiver and other parts to see if they are melted or damaged.

After completing the troubleshooting, turn the wall switch back on for five seconds.

Turn on the remote and try again now.
